Location

This is a full-time hybrid opportunity based in Syracuse, New York, offering the flexibility of a hybrid work environment while keeping you connected with clients and the team. Qualified candidates in Rochester, New York will also be considered.

Note

Must have 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience, primarily in audit and assurance, including experience managing or substantially leading audits, reviews, and compilations.

Job Description

  • Lead audits, reviews, and compilations from planning through financial statement issuance.
  • Oversee engagement planning, fieldwork, financial statement preparation, reporting, budgets, billing, and deadlines.
  • Review workpapers, financial statements, disclosures, and client communications for accuracy and quality.
  • Serve as a primary client contact and provide clear, practical accounting recommendations.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and develop staff and senior accountants.
  • Provide meaningful performance feedback and help strengthen the professional team.
  • Research accounting and auditing matters and stay current with GAAP, GAAS, and related standards.
  • Participate in firm training, quality-management, and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to tax or advisory work based on your experience and interests.
  • Take on increasing client, team, and firm leadership responsibilities as you progress toward partnership.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience, primarily in audit and assurance.
  • Experience managing or substantially leading audits, reviews, and compilations.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Active CPA license strongly preferred; candidates who have completed the CPA exam or are making substantial progress toward licensure may also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and financial statement reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, and client relationships.
  • Experience supervising and developing professional staff.
  • Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound professional judgment and commitment to high-quality client service.
  • Desire and demonstrated potential to advance into firm leadership and partnership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • CCH Engagement experience is a plus.
