About this position

Process Engineer – CNC | TxV

Enjoy solving machining challenges and seeing your ideas take shape on the shop floor? At TxV Aerospace Composites in Rhode Island, you’ll be part of a small, close-knit team working on interesting thermoplastic composite processes. You’ll put your CNC and 5-axis CAD/CAM skills to work developing toolpaths, proving out setups, and taking new parts into reliable production. Working alongside operators, Quality, and Engineering, you’ll tackle practical problems, improve 3- and 5-axis machining processes, and see the difference your work makes.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, prove out and optimise 3- and 5-axis CAD-CAM programmes, tooling, fixtures, work holding and machine set-ups.

  • Support new product introduction, providing manufacturing input into component design and transferring processes into production.

  • Work with Production and Quality to troubleshoot machining issues, meet drawing and quality requirements, and improve process capability, cycle times and scrap levels.

  • Take ownership of assigned manufacturing cells, including safety, maintenance, calibration, controlled documentation and operator training.

  • Support equipment procurement, commissioning and validation, ensuring processes meet safety, AS9100 and change-control requirements.

What you’ll bring

  • Hands-on experience of 3- and 5-axis CNC machining and CAD-CAM programming is required, including programme prove-out and process optimisation.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models and tolerances, with practical knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters and fixture design.

  • Strong troubleshooting, structured problem-solving and communication skills, with an understanding of lean manufacturing, process control and safe working practices.

  • Manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC environment is preferred. Recent engineering graduates may be considered where they can demonstrate relevant CNC, CAD-CAM or internship experience.

Useful additional experience

Experience with thermoplastic composites, AS9100, new product introduction, equipment commissioning or automation would be advantageous, as would knowledge of SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam or comparable software. A relevant engineering degree or equivalent manufacturing experience is preferred; recognised CNC qualifications, CAD-CAM certification and Chartered Engineer status are desirable.
