Hardware Design & Prototyping Intern
Location: Virginia Beach, VA (Onsite) | Type: Part-Time Internship ($15/hr)
Period of employment: Oct - Dec 2026
About the Role We are a fast-moving VTOL drone startup looking for a hands-on builder. This isn’t a coffee-fetching internship. You will work alongside our engineering team to take concepts directly from CAD screens to flying aircraft. You will do real design work, run the machines, and iterate fast.
What You’ll Do
CAD & Design: Refine and iterate drone components in CAD.
Build & Fly: Assemble physical prototypes, turn wrenches, and assist in test flights.
Troubleshoot: Identify real-world mechanical failures and rapidly design solutions.
Scale for Production: Engineer the most efficient, cost-effective methods to transition our prototype into a manufacturable product line.
About You
You are a proven maker. You have a portfolio, a workbench, or a garage full of your own hardware, 3D printing, or CAD projects.
You think with your hands and don't wait for step-by-step instructions to solve a problem.
