Job Description

Residential & Light Commercial Service Electrician
Mr. Electric of Charleston, SC. Summerville / Charleston metro. Full time, on site.

$67,000 to $79,000 guaranteed base salary, plus commission on completed work. Base is paid weekly and commission stacks on top. Self motivated techs on our plan earn $100,000+.

Mr. Electric of Charleston is proud to announce new career opportunities for the Lowcountry. We are a locally owned residential and light commercial service company, and we are adding trucks this year, not just filling a seat. The tech we hire now is the one who helps lead the next van.

As an Electrician, you are a key member of the team and coordinate the installation, repair, and service of electrical systems in homes and small businesses. You run your own fully stocked van, work directly with the customer, diagnose the problem, price the repair from our rate card, and do the work right the first time. Panel changes, service upgrades, troubleshooting, standby generators, EV chargers, lighting, and renovation wiring, with some light commercial service and industrial troubleshooting in the mix for techs who enjoy that side of the trade.

This position is right for you if you are devoted to your craft, focused, responsible, self motivated, and have a knack for troubleshooting. You are driven to provide the highest level of customer service and earn the trust of your clients. Exemplifying our code of values, you show respect and courtesy to every customer and teammate.

Specific responsibilities

  • Understand code requirements and explain them to a customer in plain English
  • Install, maintain, and repair existing equipment
  • Determine the condition of electrical equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and determine needed repairs
  • Identify materials and quantities needed for new and repair projects
  • Evaluate customer requests, write clear work order descriptions, and price projects
  • Follow established processes and procedures
  • Operate with safety as the primary concern for yourself and the customer

What you get

  • Guaranteed weekly base plus commission. Never straight commission.
  • Company van, gas card, iPad, and stocked inventory. The van goes home with you.
  • Cell phone reimbursement.
  • Earned time off.
  • Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, with rotating Saturdays.
  • No trip fee model and honest rate card pricing. Customers say yes because the number makes sense.
  • Weekly training, Neighborly network resources, and a master electrician on call for technical backup.

Job requirements

  • 3+ years of hands on residential electrical experience, including troubleshooting and repair work in occupied homes. Construction only, industrial only, or low voltage only backgrounds usually aren't a fit for this role.
  • You know the work. A journeyman or master license is welcome but not required.
  • Positive attitude, professional appearance, and a team player who can work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, since you'll be driving our truck.
  • Physically able to lift heavy objects as necessary.
  • Comfortable with tablet based dispatch, invoicing, and job photos.
  • Reliable, communicative, and someone who takes pride in finishing the job well.

How we hire
A short phone call, then a ride along day so you can see the work and we can see yours. We move quickly and respect your time. We are actively interviewing for this position.

\nCompany Description

About Mr. Electric of Charleston, SC

Mr. Electric of Charleston is a growing, locally owned electrical service company based in Summerville, serving homeowners and businesses across the Charleston metro. We are part of Neighborly, one of the largest home service franchise networks in the country, which gives our team national training, technology, and buying power behind a company that is still run by an owner who knows every job on the board.

We are expanding on every front. We are adding vans this year with more planned behind them, we have moved beyond residential into light commercial and industrial service work, and we are building a team designed to lead the next stage of growth, not just keep up with it. The techs joining us now are the ones who will be running trucks and training the people who come after them.

Our work is residential and light commercial service: troubleshooting and repairs, panel and service upgrades, standby generators, EV chargers, lighting, and renovation wiring. Most of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals, earned through honest rate card pricing, no trip fees, and work that is done right the first time.

You are not a number on a payroll here. We are a small, tight crew with minimal turnover, and that is by design. Our techs know each other, back each other up in the field, and have a direct line to the owner when something needs solving. People stay because they are treated like the professionals they are.

If you want to be part of a company on the way up, with the backing of a national brand and the pace of a local one, we would like to talk to you.
