Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Drafter III to create detailed construction drawings and material takeoffs for metal building projects. This role serves as a technical resource for the drafting team, reviews work completed by junior drafters, leads assigned projects, and helps maintain quality, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the design and detailing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed design and fabrication drawings for metal building projects using AutoCAD, TEKLA, MBS, and similar drafting software.
- Interpret construction documents, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate design deliverables.
- Review drawings and material lists prepared by junior team members for accuracy and completeness prior to release.
- Lead assigned projects and coordinate drafting schedules, priorities, and workload distribution.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align design timelines and project requirements.
- Prepare revisions, redlines, and technical documentation to support project execution.
- Maintain data accuracy within design and detailing systems.
- Coordinate outsourced detailing activities, including review and quality control of deliverables.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to team performance goals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the metal building industry, including material takeoffs and installation drawings.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience using AutoCAD.
- Experience with MBS and/or TEKLA software.
- Experience reviewing technical drawings and mentoring junior drafters. (Reasonable inference from duties; consider adding if desired.)

Work Environment
This role may be performed in both office and manufacturing environments. Responsibilities may require interaction with production areas and operational facilities. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.
Physical Requirements
- Regular standing, walking, communication, and use of standard computer equipment.
- Frequent reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and other fine motor activities.
- Occasional climbing, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Travel
Minimal travel may be required based on business needs.
