General Laborer / Solid Waste Heavy Laborer
Position Summary
Performs general labor and solid waste duties, including landscaping, custodial and general maintenance, facility setup, refuse and recycling collection, and operation of hand tools and small-engine equipment.
Essential Duties
- Perform landscaping, grounds maintenance, custodial, and general maintenance work.
- Collect, load, and dispose of residential refuse, recycling, litter, and debris.
- Repeatedly enter and exit collection vehicles and perform heavy manual labor.
- Lift, carry, push, pull, load, and unload materials, equipment, and refuse.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small-engine equipment safely.
- Assist with setup, cleanup, and movement of equipment and materials.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.
- Follow safety procedures, use required PPE, and report unsafe conditions or damaged equipment.
- Provide courteous service to residents and the public.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical & Working Requirements
Must be able to perform strenuous physical work, including frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking, and repeated entry and exit from collection vehicles. Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather, traffic, noise, dust, odors, and refuse.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to perform heavy manual labor, follow instructions, work safely, and operate or learn to operate basic tools and equipment. Previous related experience is preferred but not required.
