About Us

Nothing Really Matters is a cocktail bar operated by Under Pressure Hospitality, located inside the 50th St subway concourse in Times Square. We’re looking for someone reliable to work the door and help us keep the bar safe and comfortable for our guests and staff.

About the Role

We’re hiring door staff to manage entry and maintain a safe environment during service. You’re checking IDs, controlling who comes in, and stepping in when a guest needs to be assisted out or denied further service. This role is straightforward: be present, be alert, and use good judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Check IDs for every guest entering the bar; refuse entry for fake, expired, or altered IDs
  • Refuse entry to visibly intoxicated individuals or anyone violating house policy
  • Monitor guest behavior inside the bar and at the entrance
  • Professionally assist guests who are overly intoxicated or disruptive in exiting the premises
  • De-escalate conflicts using verbal communication first
  • Coordinate with bartenders and management on guest behavior and service decisions
  • Respond to incidents and contact police or emergency services when needed
  • Report incidents to the manager on duty
  • Help clear the bar at closing and secure entrances

About You

  • Previous experience in bar, nightlife, or event door staff or guest safety roles
  • Strong de-escalation and conflict resolution skills
  • Calm and professional under pressure
  • Good judgment and clear communication
  • Comfortable turning people away and enforcing house rules
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work late nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be 21+
  • Must have TIPS Certification or equivalent alcohol awareness training

Preferred but Not Required
NYS Security Guard License
