Lead Barista — Doma Cafe

Chicago, IL | 5 Days/Week | $18–$20/hr + Tips

Doma Cafe is looking for an experienced Lead Barista to lead our coffee program and bar during high-volume service. We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, organized, fast, and most importantly, brings a friendly, positive attitude and exceptional customer service to the bar every day.

Pay: $18–$20/hour based on experience + approximately $6–$9/hour in tips
Schedule: 5 days per week. Saturday and Sunday availability is required.

• 3+ years of professional barista experience required, preferably in a high-volume café or restaurant.
• Saturday and Sunday availability required.
• Must have a very friendly, positive, and welcoming attitude and excellent customer service skills.
• Genuinely enjoy interacting with guests and creating a warm, hospitable experience, even during extremely busy service.
• Highly proficient in espresso dialing, milk steaming, latte art, drink building, recipes, ratios, and coffee quality control.
• Able to lead and pace the bar during high-volume service of 500+ tickets per day while maintaining speed, quality, organization, and hospitality.
• Train and develop baristas on dialing in, espresso fundamentals, milk texture, latte art, recipes, workflow, cleanliness, and customer service.
• Maintain consistency across the entire coffee and beverage menu, including seasonal drinks and specials.
• Troubleshoot espresso and bar equipment, perform routine maintenance, identify equipment issues, and coordinate repairs when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar and anticipate operational needs.
• Lead by example and help create a positive, professional, team-oriented environment behind the bar.
• Strong communication, reliability, leadership, and sense of urgency are essential.
