About this position

The Role

Purslane is looking for an Event Producer to plan and run weddings and celebrations, centered on the Prospect Park Boathouse. We are the exclusive caterer at the Boathouse, which hosts 60+ events per year. The producer will also work at partner venues where we are a preferred caterer, including The Bordone, 501 Union, and Sound River Studios.

This client-facing role owns each event from sales handoff through the last guest out. You’ll guide couples and their families through planning, build the documents that make the day run, and lead the team on site. You’ll be the person our clients trust to get the details right.

The Event Producer reports to the Director of Events. You’ll work closely with Sales, Culinary, Operations, and Service leadership. This is a full-time, year-round role. In the off-season, you’ll help plan the next wedding season and support Purslane’s off-season events and projects.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management & Wedding Planning

  • Take over as the lead contact for couples and clients after sales handoff, and guide them through every stage of planning.
  • Lead planning calls, tastings, venue walkthroughs, and final details meetings. Advise on menu, flow, layout, timeline, and feasibility.
  • Coordinate with planners, families, and outside vendors (florists, musicians, photographers, rentals) so that each event comes together seamlessly.
  • Anticipate what clients need before they ask, and look for ways to make each event feel personal.
  • Give venue tours to prospective clients when needed, in support of the Sales team.

Event Production

  • Build and maintain accurate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), production timelines, floor plans, and run-of-show documents.
  • Coordinate rentals, layouts, staffing needs, and logistics across several events in a busy season.
  • Lead on-site execution and serve as the main point of contact and decision-maker on event day.
  • Know the Prospect Park Boathouse inside and out, including its spaces, flow, load-in, and park requirements. Bring the same command to each partner venue.
  • Build strong working relationships with venue teams and trusted vendors.

Cross-Functional Operations

  • Partner with Sales to ensure clean handoffs and accurate scoping.
  • Work with Culinary, Operations, and Service leadership to align on menus, equipment, staffing, and transportation.
  • Keep timelines and deliverables on track for your events, and flag issues early.
  • Manage COIs, venue paperwork, and other administrative requirements for each event.

Off-Season

  • Help plan the upcoming wedding season, including systems, documents, vendor relationships, and lessons learned.
  • Support off-season events and special projects across Purslane.

Ideal Candidate

  • 3–5 years of experience in catering, venue management, or event production, with meaningful experience producing weddings.
  • A track record of running events end to end, from planning through on-site execution.
  • Working knowledge of NYC event logistics: venues, rentals, staffing, and transportation.
  • Warm, polished, and calm with clients. You can be both reassuring and decisive in high-emotion moments.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple events at once during a busy season.
  • Experience with BEO systems (Tripleseat or equivalent), production timelines, and rental coordination.
  • Genuine passion for hospitality, food, design, and sustainability, and a high bar for what “great” looks like on event day.

  • Salary: $85,000 – $95,000, commensurate with experience
