Position Description

The EQ Technician I performs routine and non-routine microbiological and biological testing supporting manufacturing operations, utility systems, sterilizers, raw materials, in-process products, and final products. The role requires strict adherence to SOPs, STMs, cGMP, SLP, cGDP, safety procedures, and laboratory standards.


Responsibilities include:

  • Perform microbiological testing such as bioburden, particulate monitoring, environmental monitoring, growth promotion, gram staining, organism culture, membrane filtration, and plate inoculation.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including particle counters, sterilizers, ovens, pipettes, microscopes, centrifuges, water baths, LAFs, and BSCs.
  • Maintain accurate batch records, controlled worksheets, electronic laboratory records, and LIMS/database documentation.
  • Support manufacturing investigations, technical studies, production issues, and laboratory investigations.
  • Identify and escalate inconsistent or questionable test results and participate in problem resolution.
  • Prepare and sterilize laboratory media and materials according to established procedures.
  • Work in laboratory, cleanroom, and manufacturing environments while following PPE and gowning requirements.
  • Occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 lbs.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years preferred in a biological or environmental laboratory environment.
  • Experience with microbiological testing, laboratory equipment, documentation, and regulated manufacturing environments is highly relevant.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and follow detailed laboratory procedures.


Education Required

  • High School Diploma required
  • Additional education or coursework in Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related laboratory discipline would be beneficial
