About this position

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled, experienced Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Behavior Technician (BT) who is comfortable working with ages 16-18 to join our ABA therapy team in Goldsboro, NC. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience managing and safely de-escalating aggressive behaviors, a calm and confident clinical presence, and a deep commitment to client progress. This role works under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as developed and directed by a BCBA 
  • Provide 1:1 ABA therapy sessions with clients (children and/or young adults) in home, clinic, school, or community settings
  • Recognize early signs of behavioral escalation and apply evidence-based de-escalation strategies to safely diffuse aggressive or crisis behaviors 
  • Block, redirect, and manage challenging behaviors including physical aggression, per approved safety protocols
  • Implement and maintain safety plans in coordination with BCBA supervision 
  • Collect accurate behavioral and skill acquisition data (ABC, frequency, duration, interval recording, etc.) during every session
  • Prompt safe and socially appropriate replacement behaviors; fade prompts to build client independence
  • Maintain daily session notes and progress documentation
  • Communicate openly and professionally with BCBAs, families/caregivers, and school or community partners
  • Participate in ongoing supervision, team meetings, and required professional development

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with ASD or related developmental/behavioral conditions
  • Demonstrated, documented experience de-escalating and safely managing aggressive behaviors (hitting, biting, elopement, property destruction, etc.)
  • Valid NC driver's license and reliable transportation (for home/community-based sessions)
  • Satisfactory criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electronic data collection systems
  • Experience across multiple service settings (home, clinic, school)
  • Coursework or degree in psychology, education, social work, or behavioral science

Physical Requirements

This position involves direct physical work. Candidates must be able to:

  • Sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and engage in active play 
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • React quickly, including sprinting or pivoting, in response to elopement or unsafe behaviors
  • Sustain continuous 2–4 hour client sessions
