Douglas H Kresge LLC (DHK) is hiring an experienced AV and low-voltage installer for a full-time W-2 position serving Sarasota, Bradenton, Englewood, Boca Grande, and surrounding Southwest Florida communities.
PAY -$27–$32 per hour, based on demonstrated experience, technical ability, and capacity to work independently.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced installer who can take ownership of assigned audio-video and low-voltage work and complete installations safely, accurately, and professionally with limited supervision.
“Independent” describes the level of skill and responsibility expected. This is a full-time W-2 employee position—not 1099 or subcontract work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read plans, equipment schedules, installation details, and job instructions
- Install structured wiring for audio, video, networks, cameras, security, and control systems
- Terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot category, coaxial, speaker, control, and low-voltage cabling
- Install televisions, speakers, access points, cameras, touchscreens, equipment racks, and related devices
- Build, dress, label, and service equipment racks
- Perform rough-in, trim-out, equipment installation, testing, and service work
- Diagnose system, wiring, network, and equipment problems methodically
- Coordinate assigned work with project managers, electricians, builders, and other trades
- Identify material requirements and report shortages promptly
- Protect finished surfaces and maintain a clean, orderly work area
- Record time, materials, and job information accurately
- Document company credit-card purchases and submit receipts according to company procedures
- Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and coworkers
- Help guide less-experienced installers when assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous AV, low-voltage, structured-wiring, networking, security, or related installation experience
- Ability to perform normal assigned work with limited supervision
- Ability to terminate and test category and low-voltage cabling
- Ability to read plans and follow system documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Consistent attendance, reliability, and professional conduct
- Commitment to clean workmanship and avoiding preventable rework
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel to projects throughout DHK’s Southwest Florida service area
- Ability to safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
- Ability to perform the physical duties normally associated with AV and low-voltage installation
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience with any of the following is valuable but not required in every area:
- Nice/ELAN home-management systems
- Lutron lighting-control systems
- Sonos and distributed-audio systems
- Network equipment and wireless access points
- Axis surveillance cameras
- ELK security systems
- DoorBird or 2N access-control systems
- Television installation
- Equipment-rack assembly and service
- High-end residential construction and occupied-home service work
