Cheesemonger – Part Time & Full Time

About Us
We are a family-owned specialty food market known for imported Italian and international artisan cheeses, cured meats, wine and scratch-made foods. Our cheese case is one of the best parts of the store, and we’re looking for people who love talking about it.
The Schedule
- Full time: daytime hours, at least one weekend day required
- Part time: a few weekdays plus one weekend day, or both weekend days
- Extra hours available during the holiday season
What You’ll Do
- Sell. This is a selling and sampling job. Engage every customer, offer tastes, tell the story behind each cheese and help people find something they love
- Suggest pairings with wine, charcuterie, honey, jams, crackers, olives and other products around the store
- Keep the pre-cut cheese case full, fresh, rotated and looking beautiful
- Cut cheeses to order and for the case using cheese wires, knives and cutting equipment
- Wrap, weigh, price and label cheese correctly
- Cut and package cheeses in grab and go display cases
- Track what’s selling, and let the team know when items are low or need to move
- Follow food safety rules: temperatures, rotation (FIFO), sanitation and allergen awareness
What We’re Looking For
- Knows cheese, or is eager to learn: we’ll teach you our selection
- A foodie who loves talking about food and helping people discover new things
- Outgoing and confident, comfortable starting conversations and suggesting add-ons
- Good with your hands, neat with cutting and wrapping
- Dependable, on time and a team player
- Able to stand for a full shift and lift up to 40 lbs
- Cheese or wine knowledge, or a certification (ACS, WSET), is a plus but not required
