Job Description
RJ Wells, LLC is seeking a motivated, dependable, and safety-minded individual to join our growing commercial and industrial roofing company as a Safety Coordinator.
We are looking for a self-starter who has a working knowledge of construction safety, takes initiative, and is comfortable working directly with field employees, foremen, and management.
This is a hands-on position that requires regular visits to active construction sites throughout Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, and Alabama.
The ideal candidate will be someone who can identify potential hazards, communicate effectively with construction crews, and help ensure that our employees return home safely each day.
We are not looking for someone to simply fill out paperwork. We want someone who takes ownership of safety and helps make our company better.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Assist with fall-protection programs, PPE requirements, and rooftop safety procedures.
- Conduct employee safety orientations and toolbox talks.
- Assist in developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and site-specific safety plans.
- Work closely with foremen and field employees to promote safe work practices.
- Document safety inspections, observations, and corrective actions.
- Assist with accident and near-miss investigations.
- Maintain employee training records and required safety documentation.
- Help evaluate and develop qualified jobsite Competent Persons.
- Coordinate safety requirements with general contractors and industrial customers.
- Follow up to ensure identified safety concerns are corrected.
- Report safety observations and recommendations to company leadership.
Qualifications
Required:
- Working knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to recognize common construction hazards.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Comfortable visiting commercial rooftops and active construction sites.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally, including occasional overnight stays.
- Basic computer skills for reports, email, and documentation.
Preferred:
- Experience in commercial roofing or commercial construction.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
- Experience conducting jobsite safety inspections.
- Knowledge of fall-protection systems.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Previous safety coordination or construction supervision experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: $50,000–$60,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Environment

The position offers independence in scheduling and organizing daily activities while maintaining accountability for assigned inspections, safety training, documentation, and corrective actions.
