About this position
Company Description
Aragon Partners LLP is a boutique corporate law firm with an international reach. For over twelve years, Aragon has been the legal partner for business teams headquartered in over fifteen countries. The firm's clientele includes family investment offices, private equity and venture capital firms, and operating businesses ranging in size from start-ups to multinationals.
Role Description
Aragon Partners LLP seeks an experienced, Houston-based, Texas-licensed trusts and estates attorney to collaborate on a sophisticated estate planning engagement, with the potential for additional project-based assignments and a longer-term professional relationship.
The initial engagement involves developing and implementing a comprehensive estate plan for a Houston resident whose assets include income-producing real estate, closely held business interests, and financial investments. The proposed estate plan will involve multiple trusts, including a special needs trust, and coordination among estate planning, corporate, and tax counsel.
The selected attorney will work closely with Aragon Partners' corporate counsel and the client's tax adviser, assuming primary responsibility for the Texas trusts and estates aspects of the engagement. Responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing estate planning instruments, advising on applicable Texas law, meeting directly with the client, and supervising the proper execution of wills, trusts, and related documents.
The attorney should possess a thorough understanding of Texas statutory and common law governing trusts and estates, including testamentary formalities, fiduciary responsibilities, trust administration, and the transfer of assets upon death.
Although the immediate engagement focuses on estate planning, additional opportunities may arise involving Texas real estate, closely held businesses, and related legal matters.
