The Role We are seeking an experienced Small Format Printing Assistant to drive the day-to-day operations of our small format print production. You won't just be pressing buttons—you will be managing dynamic print queues, troubleshooting advanced equipment, executing precision finishing work, and ensuring our customers' projects look absolutely flawless from the first proof to the final cut.
Please Note: This position specifically requires prior hands-on experience with small format digital printing equipment and software.
Key Responsibilities
- Print Production: Set up, operate, and maintain small format digital printing presses and multi-function copiers to ensure peak operational efficiency.
- File Preparation & Preflight: Review and prep customer digital files, verifying correct sizing, resolution, color profiles, and margins prior to printing.
- Precision Finishing: Expertly operate bindery and finishing equipment, including industrial cutters, folders, scorers, laminators, and booklet makers.
- Quality Control: Maintain a relentless eye for detail. Actively monitor color accuracy, alignment, registration, and overall print clarity throughout every production run.
- Maintenance & Inventory: Perform routine mechanical upkeep, clear minor jams, and track paper stock and ink/toner levels to guarantee zero downtime.
- Workflow Management: Organize, prioritize, and track multiple jobs simultaneously to meet tight daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Required Experience: Proven, hands-on experience working in a digital print shop or copy center environment, specifically handling small format printing.
- Technical Savvy: High proficiency with print submission software, RIP software, and the Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator).
- Detail-Oriented: A trained eye capable of catching typos, scaling errors, or color shifts before a job is fully run.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and comfortably lift paper boxes and production materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Reliability: Strong punctual habits with the versatility to work completely independently or collaboratively alongside the broader team.
