About this position

Anderson Ashton Design-Build

New Berlin, Wisconsin

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 annually

Relocation assistance available

Great buildings don't happen by accident. They're designed to be built.

At Anderson Ashton Design-Build, we believe architecture should do more than look good on paper. It should work in the field, meet the owner's budget, and deliver a building that performs as intended.

We're looking for an experienced Architect who wants to be involved in more than just producing drawings.

This is an opportunity to join an established commercial design-build company where architecture, estimating, project management, and construction work together from the beginning.

THE ROLE

As an Architect at Anderson Ashton, you'll work directly with owners, estimators, project managers, superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to turn concepts into successful construction projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop creative, practical, and buildable architectural designs.
  • Work directly with owners to understand their goals, operational needs, and budgets.
  • Collaborate with preconstruction and estimating to keep designs aligned with construction costs.
  • Prepare and coordinate architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Coordinate structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil engineering disciplines.
  • Visit active jobsites and incorporate real-world construction conditions into design decisions.
  • Participate in design reviews, permitting, RFIs, submittals, and construction coordination.
  • Resolve design challenges as projects move from concept through construction.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone who understands that successful architecture requires creativity, technical knowledge, practical judgment, and collaboration.

Ideal qualifications:

  • Experience designing commercial, industrial, institutional, or similar nonresidential buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and materials.
  • Experience preparing and coordinating complete construction document packages.
  • Proficiency with architectural design and drafting software.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Wisconsin architectural registration preferred.
  • Design-build or construction administration experience is a plus.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, welcomes input from the people building it, and understands that the best design is one that can actually be constructed.

WHY ANDERSON ASHTON?

At many architecture firms, the architect's involvement ends when the drawings are issued.

That's not how we operate.

Our architects work alongside the people responsible for estimating, scheduling, managing, and constructing the buildings they design.

That means:

  • Direct involvement from initial concept through completed construction.
  • Immediate feedback on constructability and cost.
  • Opportunities to visit jobsites and see your designs become reality.
  • A collaborative environment where practical ideas are valued.
  • A variety of commercial and industrial projects.
  • The opportunity to make meaningful decisions and influence project outcomes.

We believe good architecture and good construction belong together.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Annual salary: $100,000–$140,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Competitive benefits package.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
  • Long-term career growth within an established design-build organization.
BUILD WHAT YOU DESIGN.

If you're an architect who wants to get out from behind the drawings, work directly with the construction team, and have a meaningful role in delivering successful projects, we'd like to hear from you.
