Full Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join their shop team. This position involves MIG welding, oxy-acetylene torch cutting, steel fabrication, and general shop work. You’ll work with equipment including forklifts, ironworkers, grinders, and other basic shop tools.
This is a great opportunity for someone with solid welding and fabrication experience who enjoys hands-on shop work and wants the opportunity to become a permanent member of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- MIG weld mild steel and steel grating
- Perform oxy-acetylene torch cutting
- Make down-hand welds on steel grating
- Read drawings and blueprints to assemble and fabricate products
- Use an ironworker, grinder, skill saw, and other basic shop tools
- Operate a forklift to move materials around the shop
- Measure materials accurately using a tape measure and fractional measurements
- Assist with packaging, shipping, and receiving as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
Qualifications:
- MIG welding experience
- Be familiar with “down-hand” welds
- Oxy-acetylene torch cutting experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read basic drawings or blueprints
- Comfortable using a tape measure and working with fractional measurements
- Experience with grinders, ironworkers, and other basic shop tools
- Forklift experience is helpful
- Bar grating fabrication experience is a major plus
