About this position
The Penrose is the Upper East Side's go-to neighborhood bar for creative cocktails, great bar food,honest conversation, and good company. We're looking for a Front of House Manager to join our team.
THE ROLE
As part of the management team, you'll help lead nightly operations at The Penrose. We're looking for a
hands-on leader who thrives in high-volume service, loves the energy of a busy bar, and is comfortable
managing large teams and guest experiences during peak hours.
WHO YOU ARE
• 3+ years in a leadership role in a fast-paced, high-volume bar or nightlife environment
• Deep knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails
• An approachable leader who can motivate, manage, and develop a large, diverse team
• A strong communicator, in person and in writing
• Calm under pressure and able to make sound decisions in the moment
• A self-starter who sees both the details and the bigger picture
• A team player with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude
• Fully available for evenings, late nights, and weekends
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Lead nightly front-of-house operations and keep hospitality standards high
• Run busy dinner and late-night services while creating great guest experiences
• Help oversee private events, coordinating across FOH, bar, kitchen, security and our Event Manager
• Drive sales, team performance, and operational excellence through active floor leadership
• Help with hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management
• Uphold The Penrose's standards for food, beverage, service, and atmosphere
• Build a fun, welcoming, and inclusive team culture
