About this position
Chalet, River North's alpine après-ski comfort food and cocktail lounge, is hiring a hands-on Head Chef (Kitchen Manager). You'll work a line station about 40 of roughly 50 weekly hours, lead and schedule the kitchen crew, and own ordering, inventory, recipe costing and menu development (new entrées, specials and private event menus). You'll run food safety and allergen controls and lead health inspections. You report to the owner. 5-day week including Friday and Saturday nights and weekend brunch.
Pay: $75,000–$80,000 base salary, based on experience, plus a quarterly bonus up to 10% of base tied to food-cost results, health inspections with no critical violations, and kitchen crew retention.

Requirements: 3+ years leading a kitchen as head chef, chef de cuisine, executive sous chef or kitchen manager; high-volume restaurant or bar-restaurant experience; hands-on ordering, inventory and costing; a City of Chicago Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate or willingness to earn one within 30 days (Chalet pays); ability to work a full shift on a hot line, standing and lifting up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
