CAD Measurement Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW

The CAD Measurement Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining the accuracy of as-built building measurements and calculation data as occupancy and leasing conditions evolve over time.

This is a production-focused role, ideal for candidates with strong CAD drafting experience who enjoy working with complex datasets and want to gain exposure to commercial real estate projects, space accounting, and industry-driven measurement standards.

This position is responsible not only for drafting, but also for interpreting and applying BOMA standards, ensuring that all deliverables meet technical, industry, and client-specific requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

BOMA & Suite Calculation Support

• Apply BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) standards to measure and calculate new occupant leases based on daily client requests.
• Interpret lease language, building conditions, and client requirements to ensure proper classification of space.
• Perform various miscellaneous area calculations, including rentable, usable, and common area classifications.
• Maintain as-built floor plans utilizing a variety of client-provided materials.
• Accurately polyline floor plans and demised occupant areas in accordance with BOMA and internal measurement methodologies.
• Identify and assist in reconciling discrepancies between as-built CAD and client-provided documentation.

Reporting & Deliverables

• Support the creation of BOMA reports, area summaries, and deliverable packages.
• Ensure accuracy and consistency across CAD drawings, area calculations, and final reports.
• Contribute to QA/QC processes to validate measurement outputs and documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers and QA teams to meet client expectations and deadlines.

Collaboration & Production Support

• Work closely with internal teams (production, QA/QC, and project management) to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Communicate clearly regarding production challenges, discrepancies, or data gaps.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of workflows, standards, and production efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills

• Proficiency in an AutoCAD 2D drafting environment (required).
• Strong understanding of architectural drafting standards and documentation.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and building plans.
• Solid understanding of architectural scales, measurements, and spatial relationships.
• High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred / Bonus Skills

• Experience working with point clouds using tools such as:

PointCab

• Experience in Scan-to-CAD or Scan-to-BIM workflows.
• Familiarity with BOMA standards (2017 / 2024) or other commercial measurement methodologies (e.g., REBNY).
• Experience with space accounting, area takeoffs, or lease area analysis.
• Exposure to QA/QC processes for architectural or measurement deliverables.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial real estate assets or as-built documentation projects.

• Apply BOMA standards correctly and consistently across every deliverable.
• Produce area calculations that reconcile cleanly against field data and client documentation.
• Identify and escalate discrepancies early rather than carrying them into final deliverables.
• Meet production deadlines without sacrificing accuracy or consistency.
• Communicate clearly with production, QA/QC, and project management teams.
• Continuously build expertise in Scan-to-CAD workflows and commercial measurement standards.
