Role Description The Tig Welder/Fabricator will perform precision TIG welding and fabrication of architectural, miscellaneous, and ornamental metal components, primarily in stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel. Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings, measuring and cutting materials, fitting and assembling metal parts, and performing quality checks to ensure all work meets project specifications and company standards. The role involves working with a variety of fabrication tools and equipment, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and collaborating with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and installation requirements. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Schenectady NY, supporting projects across the New York Metropolitan Area and surrounding regions.
Qualifications
- Strong TIG welding experience with stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel, including ability to produce clean, consistent welds.
- Proficiency in metal fabrication techniques such as cutting, grinding, forming, fitting, and assembly of structural and ornamental components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications, with accurate measurement and layout skills.
- Knowledge of shop tools and equipment (e.g., welders, saws, drills, presses, grinders) and proper maintenance and safe operation.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices and OSHA guidelines, including use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Attention to detail and quality control, ensuring alignment with project requirements and company standards.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with reliability in meeting deadlines and following instructions from supervisors.
- Previous experience in architectural or ornamental metal fabrication, preferably in a construction or fabrication shop environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; welding certifications or technical training in welding/fabrication are strongly preferred.
