Express Employment is partnering with a Detroit-based client to add an experienced professional who can tackle industrial piping, fabrication, and structural welding in a fast-paced setting.

  • Location: Detroit, MI
  • Schedule: 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Monday–Thursday & 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Friday
  • Pay rate: $25–$28/hr+ BOE
A day in the role

You start your shift reviewing blueprints and building plans, mapping out routes for water, steam, and process lines. By mid-morning, you’re fabricating and fitting pipe runs, installing supports, valves, and system components. After lunch, you troubleshoot a control issue, complete leak testing on a new section, and log preventative maintenance for HVAC-related piping. You wrap up by confirming everything meets code, safety, and environmental standards—ready for the next team to pick up where you left off.

What you'll handle
  • Install, inspect, repair, and modify industrial piping systems, valves, and controls
  • Work across water, steam, and process piping networks
  • Read and interpret blueprints and building plans to determine layouts
  • Install pipe supports, valves, fittings, and system components
  • Perform leak testing and preventative maintenance
  • Support HVAC-related piping and facility systems
  • Ensure all work meets code, safety, and environmental standards
What you bring
  • Michigan Journeyman Plumber License or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong blueprint reading and troubleshooting skills
  • Hands-on experience with pipe systems, valves, and process controls
  • Mechanical aptitude; comfortable working independently or with a team

You should be proficient in: Pipefitting Skills
