Seeking a Board-Certified Critical Care Physician for locum tenens coverage in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

This is a 100% inpatient ICU position providing care in an 8-bed operational critical care unit. The physician will work independently and manage a typical census of approximately 6 8 patients .

Coverage is expected for approximately 6 12 months , with the possibility of extension.

• Coverage Monday Sunday
• 24-hour shifts preferred, but not required
• Day coverage: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
• On-call coverage: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
• Facility is open to providers with significant recurring availability
• Local candidates are preferred, but travelers may be considered depending on availability and travel costs

• 10 total ICU beds
• Approximately 8 beds currently open
• Typical census: 6 8 patients
• Physician works solo
• 100% inpatient
• Epic EMR

Candidates must be comfortable performing:

• Central line placement
• Arterial line placement
• Thoracentesis
• Chest tube placement
• Paracentesis

Intubation is optional for the Critical Care physician because Emergency Medicine and Anesthesia coverage are available.

For physicians who perform intubations:

• GlideScope available in the unit
• Appropriate airway equipment available

• AmbuScope for bedside procedures
• GlideScope for intubation when needed

• Provide comprehensive ICU and Critical Care management
• Evaluate and manage critically ill patients
• Perform required bedside procedures
• Provide daily ICU rounding and treatment planning
• Manage acute changes in clinical condition
• Coordinate care with Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, Hospital Medicine, and other specialties
• Provide appropriate overnight/on-call coverage
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in Epic
• Work independently as the primary Critical Care physician during assigned coverage

• MD or DO
• Board Certified required
• Critical Care fellowship required
• Active Massachusetts medical license required
• DEA required
• Massachusetts CSR required
• Current Critical Care / ICU experience required
• Comfortable working independently in an inpatient ICU environment
• Prior travel experience is not required
