About this position

Company Description Buckhannon Tile + Design is a showroom specializing in an extensive selection of tile, stone, and glass tiles for residential and commercial projects. Since opening in March 2008, the showroom has become a preferred resource for local interior designers and builders seeking quality materials and design inspiration. Full-size displays throughout the space highlight current trends, including porcelain tile applications for kitchen backsplashes and shower walls. The showroom offers a wide color spectrum and a curated product range to help clients achieve distinctive, cohesive designs.

Role Description The Sales Design Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in the Charleston, South Carolina Metropolitan Area. This role involves greeting and guiding clients through the showroom, understanding their project needs, and recommending tile, stone, and glass products that align with their style, budget, and functional requirements. The consultant will prepare design concepts and product selections, create quotes, process orders, and coordinate with installers, designers, and builders to ensure accurate specifications. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining attractive product displays, staying current with design trends and product knowledge, following up with leads, and supporting sales goals through proactive, solution-focused client interactions. The role also requires accurate documentation, use of point-of-sale or CRM tools, and collaboration with the team to deliver a positive, consistent customer experience.

  • Strong customer service skills, including active listening, clear communication, and a client-centered approach.
  • Proven sales skills with experience in consultative selling, upselling, and closing transactions.
  • Knowledge of interior design principles, including space planning, color coordination, and material selection.
  • Ability to work on-site, including standing for extended periods and moving samples or materials as needed.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills for managing quotes, orders, and project timelines.
  • Comfort using design tools or software (e.g., basic CAD, design apps, or layout tools) is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a design showroom, tile or flooring sales, or related retail environment is a plus.
