Role Description The Direct Support Professional is a full-time, on-site role based in Sinking Spring, PA. This role involves assisting individuals with daily living tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and medication reminders and administration, while promoting independence and safety. The Direct Support Professional supports individuals in attending medical and therapy appointments, engaging in community activities, and developing social and life skills. Responsibilities include implementing person-centered support plans, documenting services accurately, and communicating observations and concerns to supervisors and care teams. The role also requires collaborating with colleagues, responding calmly to behavioral or emergency situations, and maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Human Services and experience supporting individuals with Intellectual Disabilities.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to interact effectively with individuals, families, and team members.
- Ability to participate in and apply Training related to person-centered supports, safety procedures, and behavioral strategies.
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in human services or related fields is beneficial.
- Prior experience in residential or community-based disability services is preferred but not required.
- Ability to assist with personal care tasks, maintain professional boundaries, and uphold confidentiality.
- Must have a Driver license and reliable transportation, ability to work assigned shifts (including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed), and meet required background checks.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and willingness to learn agency systems and protocols. xxzpjkt
- Medical background such as experience with medical tasks, home health care, nursing assistance, medical assistance in a plus but not required.
