About this position
DINING ROOM / SERVICE MANAGER
$80,000–$90,000 annually
An established Manhattan restaurant is seeking an experienced manager with a strong command of dining room service and the ability to teach it.
This position centers on the guest experience: how guests are welcomed, how the room feels, how well staff understand the menu, and how consistently the team anticipates what a table needs. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being on the floor, works comfortably through a busy service, and takes an active role in developing staff.
The role
You will oversee the front-of-house team during service, keeping everyone organized, attentive, and focused on thoughtful hospitality. Your responsibilities will include:
Directing the floor and adjusting seating, staff assignments, and pacing as service develops.
Teaching and reinforcing service standards through pre-shift meetings, hands-on coaching, and consistent follow-up.
Recognizing gaps in service early and stepping in to support the team.
Developing staff knowledge of food, beverages, and proper service.
Building relationships with guests and resolving concerns with discretion and care.
Coordinating with the kitchen to manage timing, special requests, and dietary needs.
Hiring, training, and evaluating front-of-house employees.
Supporting scheduling, labor management, opening and closing procedures, and health and safety requirements.
The right experience
At least three years of restaurant management experience in a busy, upscale setting.
A thorough understanding of dining room service, with the ability to explain and demonstrate what good service looks like.
Strong food and beverage knowledge and attention to the details that shape a guest’s experience.
Experience giving clear, constructive feedback and holding staff to consistent expectations.
Sound judgment, strong organization, and a composed, professional presence.
Familiarity with restaurant POS and reservation systems.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and benefits
Annual salary of $80,000–$90,000, plus health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k); paid time off; paid training; and an employee discount.
Please submit your résumé and a brief introduction describing your approach to service and staff development.
