Switchgear Wiring Technician / Electrical Assembly Technician

Location: Union County, NJ
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: Competitive, based on experience


Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Switchgear Wiring Technician / Electrical Assembly Technician for a growing electrical equipment manufacturer in the Union County, NJ area.

This is a skilled, hands-on wiring position for someone with direct experience working with switchgear, switchboards, electrical distribution equipment, or industrial control panels. This is not an entry-level assembly position or a general electrician role.

The ideal candidate can read electrical schematics and point-to-point wiring diagrams and perform wiring and assembly work with minimal training.


Responsibilities

  • Perform point-to-point wiring of switchgear, switchboards, and electrical distribution equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
  • Route, label, terminate, and dress wires according to drawings and specifications
  • Wire breaker control circuits, terminal blocks, relays, meters, CTs, PTs, and CPTs
  • Install and connect electrical and control components
  • Verify completed wiring against schematics and drawings
  • Troubleshoot incorrect or incomplete wiring
  • Identify wiring discrepancies and make necessary corrections
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional wiring throughout assemblies
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to complete equipment accurately and on schedule
  • Follow electrical, manufacturing, and workplace safety procedures


Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on switchgear or switchboard wiring experience strongly preferred
  • Several years of electrical wiring or electrical assembly experience preferred
  • Experience with industrial control panels or electrical distribution equipment may also be considered
  • Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics and point-to-point wiring diagrams
  • Experience terminating and labeling electrical wiring
  • Familiarity with terminal blocks, relays, breakers, CTs, PTs, CPTs, meters, and related electrical components
  • Ability to troubleshoot wiring using electrical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and workmanship
  • Ability to work independently with minimal training or supervision


Ideal Background
