Job Description

The Manufacturing EHS Specialist implements, monitors, and maintains environmental, health, and safety programs for a production facility. This role ensures daily operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations while partnering with plant leadership and frontline workers to build a proactive safety culture.


Responsibilities

  • Drive compliance with core OSHA standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication (HazCom), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and machine guarding.
  • Conduct routine floor inspections, safety audits, and job safety analyses (JSAs) to identify workplace hazards.
  • Lead incident, injury, and near-miss investigations using root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans, tracking them through completion.


Environmental Compliance•

  • Support site compliance with EPA and state environmental permits.
  • Oversee safe management, storage, and disposal programs for industrial waste and hazardous materials.
  • Assist with environmental recordkeeping, reporting, and local sustainability or waste reduction targets


Training & Employee Engagement

  • Deliver engaging EHS training sessions, including new hire safety orientation and mandatory annual refreshers.
  • Facilitate site safety committees and support worker-led continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate safety metrics, updates, and best practices clearly across all shifts.


Data & Administration

  • Maintain accurate logs for OSHA recordkeeping (e.g., OSHA 300/301 logs).
  • Review EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like recordable incident rates and training completion percentages to spot negative trends.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in environmental health and safety


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Environmental Health and Safety
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Certification
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance
  • Experience in risk management and incident investigation
  • Strong skills in data analysis and communication
  • Proven ability to deliver effective safety training
  • High attention to detail
