Sub Arc Welder – Stainless Steel & Carbon Steel

Responsible for performing submerged arc welding (SAW) on stainless steel and carbon steel components in accordance with welding procedures, drawings, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate submerged arc welding equipment for stainless steel and carbon steel fabrication.
  • Select and install appropriate welding wire, flux, and machine settings based on material thickness and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
  • Perform high-quality welds on plates, structural components, pressure vessels, pipes, and fabricated assemblies.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, drawings, and WPS requirements.
  • Prepare, fit, align, and inspect materials prior to welding.
  • Monitor welding parameters, including amperage, voltage, travel speed, and wire feed speed.
  • Perform preheating and interpass temperature control when required.
  • Inspect completed welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, slag inclusions, and lack of fusion.
  • Perform grinding, cleaning, and weld preparation as necessary.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure a safe, clean work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable welding standards.
  • Work with quality-control personnel to ensure welds meet customer and industry specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with submerged arc welding (SAW).
  • Experience welding both stainless steel and carbon steel.
  • Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and WPS documentation.
  • Knowledge of welding processes, consumables, and basic weld inspection.
  • Ability to use measuring tools and welding equipment safely and accurately.
  • AWS certification or equivalent welding qualification preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team.

Hours: 6:30am-3pm, M-F
