Taiyo Circuit Automation’s laser like focus on the application and drying of liquid photo imageable solder mask (LPISM) has forged us into the leadership position of supplying machines throughout the world. Since the introduction of our first LPISM coater, the DP10 in 1990, we have been continuously developing and refining the process. Most of our customers only have one LPISM coating machine, so uptime reliability is of paramount concern.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for building and assembling machines according to schematics and specifications. This position performs troubleshooting and repairs of plant instrumentation and electrical systems as required and evaluates and identifies causes of equipment, procedural, and control system inefficiencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Implement process control solutions for process improvement and new projects
- Consult with engineering, and management concerning process control and instrumentation
- Build and assemble machines according to schematics and specifications
- Evaluate and find causes for equipment, procedural, and conditional control systems inefficiencies
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with safety procedures as required by government regulations, including OSHA and EU regulations
- Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests
- Keep equipment operational by performing or coordinating maintenance and repair services
- Follow instructions and established procedures
- Escalate problems to supervisor as needed
- Learn to use all of the Taiyo products that are offered to customers
- Assist co-workers and contribute to team efforts to accomplish the tasks at hand
- Complete additional projects and duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency with warehouse procedures and policies
- Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the areas of assignment
- Experience in installation and calibration of process control elements and electrical measurement devices
- Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic diagrams
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a problem-solving environment
- Ability to make decisions based on logic and common sense
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
- Skills in organizing and managing data
- High degree of initiative with the ability to work with minimal or no supervision
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties
- Experience operating a forklift
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- PLC experience
- Three (3) years of experience with equipment in the PCB or related electronics industry
- Three (3) years of experience in similar process industries with hands-on experience in warehouse operations and equipment maintenance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety procedures and regulations
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods
- Ability to work at a computer and perform repetitive motions for extended periods
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional overtime and weekend work as required to support business needs
- Occasional travel, as needed
- Work performed in warehouse, manufacturing, and office environments
- Exposure to mechanical and electrical equipment, moving machinery, and energized systems
- Exposure to varying environmental conditions, including noise, vibration, heat, and cold
