About the Role:
The Forklift Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials within a warehouse or distribution center. This position is responsible for operating sit-down forklifts and material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport goods accurately and promptly. The operator will contribute to maintaining inventory accuracy by assisting with order picking. Safety and compliance with operational procedures are paramount to prevent accidents and damage to products or equipment. Ultimately, the Forklift Operator supports the overall supply chain process by facilitating smooth warehouse operations and timely order fulfillment. This position also requires packing and repacking materials consistently at times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management.
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with sit-down forklifts
- Familiarity with general warehouse safety protocols and procedures.
- Previous experience in order picking and inventory control using RF scanners.
- Knowledge of transportation and warehousing industry standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate sit-down forklifts to move materials within the warehouse.
- Load and unload goods from trucks and storage areas safely and efficiently.
- Assist with order picking to ensure accurate shipment preparation.
- Inspect equipment daily to ensure it is in good working condition and report any maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and operational efficiency.
Skills:
The required skills for sit-down forklifts are essential for daily material movement and load management. General warehouse knowledge helps the operator understand workflow and safety requirements, ensuring compliance with operational standards. Order picking skills enable the operator to assist in preparing shipments correctly and on time. Together, these skills contribute to maintaining a safe, organized, and productive warehouse environment.
Monday through Friday 6:00am - 2:20pm. Some weekend work.
