Position Overview

As our founding Clinical Medical Director, you will help build our community-facing primary care operations from the ground up. This mission-driven role is designed for a clinician passionate about health equity, community advocacy, and delivering high-quality care to underserved populations. You will split your time between direct patient care (approx. 75%) and foundational clinical administration/operational setup (approx. 25%).

Core Responsibilities

· Foundational Clinical Leadership: Design, implement, and refine the clinic’s standard operating protocols, chart audit procedures, and quality improvement metrics from the ground up.

· Direct Community Patient Care: Provide comprehensive, culturally competent, full-scope family primary care to diverse and vulnerable community members.

· Regulatory & Intake Compliance: Establish patient intake standards, maintain clinical recordkeeping rigor (SOAP notes/EHR protocols), and ensure absolute adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and North Carolina Board of Nursing regulations.

· Staff Mentorship & Training: As the clinic grows, supervise, train, and support medical assistants, volunteer clinicians, and support staff in a collaborative, team-based environment.

· Collaborative Practice Liaison: Maintain the mandatory written Collaborative Practice Agreement with our consulting/supervising physician per North Carolina law.

· Community Advocacy: Act as the clinical voice for the non-profit, assisting the Executive Director with clinical data tracking required for grant reporting and community outreach initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications

· Education: Graduate of an accredited Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.

· Licensure & Certification: Active, unencumbered North Carolina APRN license with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) board certification (AANP or ANCC). Active BLS certification.

· Prescriptive Authority: Active DEA registration and NPI number.

· Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical practice as an FNP. Prior experience in a Community Health Center (FQHC), look-alike clinic, or public health setting is highly preferred. Experience helping start up or scale a clinic program is a major plus.(Ability to speak Spanish is a big plus but not a must)

· Core Competencies: A passion for non-profit advocacy, adaptability to a start-up environment, and bilingual (Spanish) skills (e.g., English/Spanish) are highly desirable to meet local patient population needs.
