This is generally a non-career Postal Support Employee appointment. Eligible employees may earn paid leave at the rate of one hour for every 20 hours in pay status, receive holiday pay for designated postal holidays, and receive contractual wage increases. Eligible employees may enroll in the USPS Health Benefits Plan with a Postal Service contribution toward the premium.
Employees who receive a subsequent appointment may become eligible for additional health coverage options, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, and long-term-care insurance, subject to current plan and service requirements. Eligible veterans may also qualify for Wounded Warrior Leave. The position may provide an opportunity to move into a career postal appointment, but career conversion is not guaranteed.
