Quality Assurance Technician | Auburn Hills, MI


  • Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift 
  • Team player/flexible working in other areas when needed (running a machine, deburring)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and symbols including GD&T
  • Ability to properly use basic dimensional (caliper, micrometer, etc.) and inspection and measuring tools
  • Ability to perform calibration of hand tools and interpret the results
  • Verisurf experience is a huge plus but not required


PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:

Inspection of product to ensure conformance to engineering specifications. Support quality processes to ensure product reliability, increase manufacturing effectiveness, and improve customer satisfaction.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to perform accurate, precise, and thorough inspections of various parts and assemblies.
  • Communicate and document non-conformances in technical terms, both written and oral.
  • Review and disposition of non-conforming material and process material transactions.
  • Communicate non-conforming material conditions to designated Engineer and Quality Engineer.
  • Organizational skills to perform detailed follow-up on Corrective Actions.
  • Common knowledge of machine tool basics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatics).
  • Support other quality functions such as workmanship, packaging standards, etc.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision while contributing to KPI measures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and symbols including GDT.
  • Ability to communicate technical information both written and oral.
  • Ability to properly use basic dimensional (caliper, micrometer, etc.) and inspection and measuring tools.
  • Ability to perform calibration of hand tools and interpret results.
  • Ability to perform various other quality related tasks. (Assisting in Deburr department)
  • Knowledge of problem-solving tools and techniques.
  • Interpersonal skills – Uniquely driven individual with long term ambitions, results oriented, works effectively with others.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance expected.


EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred technical certificate in engineering / quality discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of one year in quality assurance / inspection role.
  • Previous experience: machinist/machine builder, mechanical or electrical assembler preferred


PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY

  • Extended standing for long periods
  • Lifting and handling of parts up to and occasionally exceeding 50lbs
  • Ability to handle material while operating inspection equipment
