Line Worker

About this position

Manny's Cafeteria and Delicatessen has been serving up classic Jewish deli sandwiches, fresh bagels, and homestyle comfort food since 1942, and we are seeking dedicated and talented people to join the team!

Position Summary:
The Cafeteria Food Line Worker is responsible for preparing, setting up, maintaining, and serving food on a cafeteria-style serving line. This position ensures food is presented attractively, served at consistent portion sizes and proper temperatures, and that customers receive friendly and efficient service. 

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Setup

• Prepare and organize food items according to the daily menu.

• Set up serving stations before opening.

• Ensure food is properly labeled, displayed, and ready for service.

• Check food quality, appearance, and temperatures.

Food Service & Customer Satisfaction

• Serve customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner. (Give that classic Manny's hospitality!)

• Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and daily specials.

• Follow established portion sizes and serving standards.

• Keep the serving line stocked, clean, and attractive throughout service.

Food Safety & Sanitation

• Follow proper food handling, storage, and temperature-control procedures.

• Prevent cross-contamination and follow allergen safety procedures.

• Maintain proper handwashing and personal hygiene.

• Clean and sanitize serving areas, utensils, and equipment.

Breakdown & Closing Duties

• Properly store, label, and date food.

• Break down and clean serving stations and equipment.

• Restock supplies and organize work areas.

• Complete assigned cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping.
  
  Qualifications and Requirements:

• Previous food service experience preferred, but not required.

• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Participate and add to the positive workplace culture.  

• Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food containers and supplies.

• Food Handler Certification required.
• Morning  and weekend availability required
