About this position

Job Description

Job Description

We spend more time at work than with our families — so choose your work-family wisely. At The Dog Stop Plano, you'll spend your days with dogs (and get to bring your own!), on a team that's trained properly and never thrown in over their heads.

Is this you?
You genuinely love dogs — not just in theory, but you're comfortable with the mess, the noise, and the occasional chaos of a room full of them. You're calm under pressure, observant, and want to actually learn how dogs communicate rather than just liking that they're cute. You don't mind being on your feet all day, walking constantly, and working outside in Texas weather. You're reliable — we're counting on you to show up, especially since weekends are a regular part of this role.

Schedule

  • Two shift options: 6:00am–2:00pm or 12:00pm–8:00pm
  • Weekend shifts are mandatory (rotating)
  • Holidays are rotated among the team and paid at 1.5x

What you'll actually be doing

  • Supervising dog play groups, watching body language and behavior to keep everyone safe and having a good time
  • Keeping daycare and boarding areas clean throughout the day
  • Communicating with dog owners about their pet's day
  • Working as part of a team that keeps group sizes manageable — no handler is left overwhelmed with too many dogs

Training you'll receive

  • Canine CPR and First Aid certification
  • Introduction to dog handling: body language, canine behavior, and safe intervention
  • A mix of online modules, videos, hands-on training, and shadowing experienced handlers before you're on your own
  • We follow Fear Free handling principles, with ongoing continuing education and a real path to advancement as we grow

Benefits

  • Bring your dog to work
  • Dog adoption assistance
  • Employee discount on retail and services
  • Free/discounted services for your own dog
  • Paid time off
  • Paid training
  • Holiday pay at 1.5x
  • Bereavement leave

Location: 910 W Parker Rd, Ste 103, Plano, TX 75075 (SE corner of Parker & Alma)

No experience required — just the right attitude and a genuine love of dogs. Apply with your résumé and let's talk.
