About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, and calibrating electrical equipment and systems throughout the plant.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who can safely diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, minimize equipment downtime, and support reliable production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant electrical equipment and systems.
- Inspect and document the condition of electrical equipment, including:
- Motors and generators
- Control panels and control systems
- Switches and circuit breakers
- Lighting systems and circuits
- Industrial electrical equipment
- Clean, maintain, adjust, lubricate, and calibrate equipment while following all required safety procedures.
- Use electrical test equipment, meters, scopes, CRT test equipment, and other diagnostic tools to troubleshoot equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment drawings.
- Install new electrical equipment and modify or improve existing systems.
- Diagnose electrical failures and determine the root cause of equipment problems.
- Repair defective circuits by identifying failed components and replacing or repairing them as needed.
- Perform temporary and permanent repairs to electrical and industrial equipment.
- Repair and maintain motors, cranes, generators, ovens, and other plant equipment.
- Perform mechanical repairs when necessary to restore equipment to proper operating condition.
- Evaluate equipment conditions and determine whether temporary operation can continue safely without causing additional damage.
- Communicate with the Crew Chief and Production Supervisor when equipment requires immediate shutdown to prevent damage or safety concerns.
- Identify ways to minimize production interruptions during equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Start, stop, and adjust industrial oven gas and air systems.
- Monitor, inspect, test, and calibrate computer relay systems and troubleshoot and repair related issues.
- Assist repair crews during emergency equipment breakdowns.
- Perform basic rigging and erect scaffolding when required.
- Operate shop equipment and machine tools, including drill presses, power saws, portable drills, and grinders.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop and work areas.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Perform other related maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in industrial electrical maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and electromechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience is a plus.
- Ability to work safely around industrial machinery, electrical systems, and production equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergency equipment breakdowns.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, electrical test equipment, and shop machinery.
- Ability to perform maintenance work in a variety of positions and work areas.
- Ability to work at heights and perform basic rigging or scaffold-related tasks when required.
- Ability to respond to equipment breakdowns and production-related maintenance needs.
