MIG WELDER – FIRST AND SECOND SHIFT
Union Position | Manufacturing | Metal Fabrication

Pay: $18.00–$26.00 per hour

Mercury Products is seeking experienced MIG Welders for first- and second-shift positions at our manufacturing facility in Schaumburg, Illinois. This is a union position with union benefits available after 90 days of employment.

The hourly rate offered within the posted range will depend on the candidate’s welding experience, AWS or comparable certifications, demonstrated skill level, and shift assignment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform MIG welding on metal components and fabricated assemblies.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment using the appropriate settings and materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, work instructions, and production specifications.
  • Produce welds that meet company quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Inspect completed welds for proper penetration, strength, appearance, and conformance.
  • Use grinders and other hand or power tools to prepare and finish welded components.
  • Measure completed parts using applicable measuring instruments and gauges.
  • Identify and report welding defects, equipment problems, and quality concerns.
  • Maintain productivity while consistently meeting safety and quality requirements.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other production or welding-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous MIG welding experience in a manufacturing, production, automotive, or metal-fabrication environment is preferred.
  • AWS certification or a comparable welding certification is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to pass a company welding test.
  • Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques, equipment settings, and basic weld inspection.
  • Ability to use grinders, hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Strong attention to quality, safety, and detail.
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to work the assigned shift and overtime when required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for an 8- to 10-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, push, pull, and work in various positions.
  • Ability to use welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include heat, noise, fumes, sparks, and changing temperatures.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Hourly pay range: $18.00–$27.00.
  • Starting pay is based on relevant welding experience, AWS or comparable certifications, demonstrated welding ability, and shift assignment.
  • Union position.
  • Union benefits are available after 90 days of employment.
  • First- and second-shift opportunities are available.
  • Overtime opportunities may be available based on production needs.
