Fanno Creek Clinic is a tier 3 patient-centered primary care home (PCPCH) located in Southwest Portland, Oregon. About the Role:
(Full-time temporary assignment of 6-12 weeks with potential for permanent placement)
The X-Ray Technician plays a critical role in the diagnostic process by producing high-quality radiographic images that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This position involves operating imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure. The technician will collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to accurately capture images that meet clinical standards and support effective patient care. Additionally, the role requires maintaining detailed records, adhering to regulatory guidelines, and managing equipment maintenance to ensure optimal functionality. This position serves as a vital link between patients and medical teams, contributing to timely and accurate diagnoses that improve health outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT or equivalent).
- Valid licensure to perform radiologic procedures in Oregon.
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety and protection standards.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting particularly in diagnostic imaging.
- Familiarity with digital imaging systems and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Additional certifications such as CPR or advanced imaging modalities.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities.
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting, .
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in patient education and support.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team environment.
- Bone densitometry experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and position patients correctly to obtain the required radiographic images.
- Operate X-ray equipment safely and efficiently, following established protocols and safety standards.
- Review images for quality and clarity, ensuring they meet diagnostic requirements before submission to radiologists.
- Maintain patient records and document procedures accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to coordinate imaging services and support patient care.
- Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Educate patients about the imaging process, addressing any concerns to promote comfort and cooperation.
Required Skills:
The required skills enable the X-Ray Technician to operate imaging equipment accurately and safely, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images are produced consistently. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients and collaborating with medical staff to facilitate smooth workflow. High attention to detail is critical when positioning patients and reviewing images to avoid retakes and ensure diagnostic clarity. Preferred skills such as familiarity with digital imaging technology and PACS enhance efficiency in managing and transmitting images within healthcare systems. Additionally, adaptability and the ability to work under pressure support the technician in managing varying patient needs and urgent imaging requests effectively.
Physical Demands:
- Full range of body motion required, including handling and lifting of patients, finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination
- Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds
- Requires standing, sitting, stooping, and walking for extensive periods of time
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges
Working Conditions:
Potential exposure to bodily fluids, exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, narcotics, anesthetics.
Compensation/Benefits:
Compensation: $29.00 to $43.00 per hour (DOE)
