Journeyman Electrician – EV Charging & Advanced Electrical Systems
Red Star Electric | Forest Park, IL / Greater Chicago Area
Red Star Electric is a growing electrical contractor serving the greater Chicago area, and we’re looking for an experienced Journeyman Electrician to join our team.
This is an opportunity for an electrician who wants to take their experience beyond routine electrical work and work with some of the technologies shaping the future of the industry. Our projects include EV charging infrastructure, Tesla Powerwall battery storage systems, SPAN smart panels, DC fast charging, and residential and commercial electrical service upgrades.

What You’ll Do
- Install Level 2 and DC fast EV charging systems for residential and commercial customers
- Install and commission Tesla Powerwall battery storage systems and SPAN smart panels
- Perform electrical panel upgrades, service upgrades, and load calculations
- Manage installations from start to finish
- Troubleshoot and complete complex residential and commercial electrical projects
- Work closely with a small, experienced team where your knowledge and judgment are valued
What We’re Looking For
- Illinois Journeyman Electrician License required
- Minimum 5 years of field experience
- Strong knowledge of the NEC and applicable Illinois electrical requirements
- Ability to independently evaluate a job site and complete work safely and efficiently
- Experience with complex residential and/or commercial electrical installations
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Professional, dependable, and committed to quality workmanship
Preferred Experience
Experience with EV charging, battery storage, smart panels, or related technologies is highly preferred. Previous experience with Tesla, ChargePoint, SPAN, Wallbox, Enphase, or similar systems is a significant plus.
