Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant specializing in Wound Care to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert wound management, advanced assessments, and comprehensive patient care to promote healing and improve quality of life. Your expertise will support a multidisciplinary approach, collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional outcomes. Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including detailed medical histories and physical examinations focused on wound evaluation and management
  • Develop and implement individualized wound care plans utilizing advanced techniques such as debridement, dressings, skin grafts, and Botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate
  • Perform specialized procedures including suturing, sterile dressing changes, and skin biopsies
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive treatment strategies
  • Manage documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring accurate medical records and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound prevention, care techniques, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications to support healing
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives related to wound healing innovations and new treatment modalities

Requirements

  • Valid licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current state certification and prescriptive authority in accordance with DEA regulations
  • Proven experience in wound care management, including advanced procedures like suturing, debridement, and skin grafting
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, infection control protocols, and diagnostic evaluation methods specific to wound healing
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is a plus
  • Experience working across diverse settings including hospitals (Level I/II trauma centers), outpatient clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments
  • Skilled in performing procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, venipuncture, tube feeding management, and sterile processing techniques
  • Ability to work effectively within collaborative practice agreements and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients of all ages on complex treatment plans including pediatric (pediatric care), geriatric (geriatrics), hospice & palliative medicine, behavioral health considerations, and infectious disease care
