Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Customer Service Representative for an opportunity with an established organization in Waterloo, Iowa.

This position supports the sales and service team while providing professional, timely customer service to clients. The role involves customer communication, account documentation, application processing, renewals, reporting, and administrative support.

Previous insurance experience is a plus but is not required. Training will be provided. Candidates without an insurance background are encouraged to apply if they have strong customer service experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to accurately manage detailed administrative work.

The selected candidate will be required to obtain a Property & Casualty insurance license.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and timely customer service to clients.
  • Support the sales and service team with day-to-day customer account needs.
  • Process renewals, monthly reports, certificates, and other customer documentation.
  • Gather information for new business and renewal applications.
  • Prepare applications for submission to appropriate markets.
  • Process and follow up on customer-requested coverage changes and endorsements.
  • Initiate and monitor renewal processes.
  • Accurately document customer contacts, account activity, and developments within the agency management system.
  • Communicate proactively with customers regarding outstanding information, documentation, and follow-up items.
  • Maintain organized and accurate customer records.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Provide additional administrative and customer-service support as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of customer service experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service in a professional office environment.
  • Comfortable working with detailed documentation, customer records, and data entry.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn new software and business processes.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain a Property & Casualty insurance license.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Waterloo, Iowa.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous insurance industry experience.
  • Commercial insurance or commercial-lines experience.
  • Experience supporting customer accounts, renewals, applications, or similar documentation.
  • Previous administrative, account coordination, sales support, banking, financial services, or professional office experience.
  • Experience working with customer-management or agency-management software.

Compensation

$18–$20/hour, depending on experience.
