About Āzar
Āzar is a new Persian street grill opening in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We serve bold, honest food rooted in the flavors of Iran. Grilled meats and vegetable, fresh bread, herbs and spices. Our Guest Services & Cashier is the face of Āzar, the first and last impression every guest has. We're looking for someone warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about hospitality and food.
Responsibilities
- Greet every guest with warmth and professionalism — set the tone for their experience
- Take orders accurately and efficiently using our POS system (Toast)
- Learn the menu thoroughly, ingredients, flavors, preparation methods, and common allergens
- Communicate the details of our dishes to guests with confidence and enthusiasm, this is an authentic Persian cuisine and storytelling is part of the job
- Make thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences and dietary needs
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently
- Maintain an organized, clean, and fully stocked service and counter area at all times
- Regularly check the serving area throughout the shift to ensure everything is in place, presentable, and running smoothly
- Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure order accuracy and timely delivery
- Handle guest questions, feedback, and concerns with professionalism and a positive attitude
- Assist with opening and closing duties including cleaning and restocking
- Support the team wherever needed during busy service periods
- Punctuality is a must, on time every shift, every day
Requirements
- Minimum 2 year of guest-facing experience in a restaurant, café, or hospitality setting required
- Genuine passion for food and hospitality
- Strong verbal communication skills, ability to engage guests, describe dishes in detail, and represent the brand with pride
- Ability to learn and retain detailed menu knowledge quickly
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Experience with POS systems a plus (Toast preferred)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- Weekend and evening availability required
- Interest in Persian or Middle Eastern cuisine a plus. Curiosity and willingness to learn is essential
Schedule
- Full-time and part-time shifts available
- Evening and weekend shifts required
- Holiday availability expected
Compensation
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience
