About this position

Sailor is a lauded neighborhood bistro on a corner in Fort Greene, helmed by Chef April Bloomfield and Gabriel Stulman’s Happy Cooking Hospitality. The partnership, according to the New Yorker’s Helen Rosner, “has resulted in a restaurant that is intensely, almost freakishly wonderful”.

We're a small restaurant with big ambitions and we're looking for an empathetic, passionate, detail-oriented Service Manager - with a focus on beverage - to join us in our endeavor.

The Day to Day:
- On-the-floor leadership and direct engagement in daily service
- Wine-focused beverage education
- Co-operation with the Beverage Director on cellar management, wine selections, and direct-to-guest wine sales
- Providing constructive, individually-tailored feedback and delivering high fives when the job is well done
- Constant coordination with colleagues in the kitchen, on the dining room floor, and with the executive team, in pursuit of a smoothly running restaurant
- Recruiting and training future generations of well-intentioned and highly skilled teammates.
- Bar program support and development
- Administrative support: reporting, earnings reconciliation, scheduling, maintenance of service documents and menus

Who You Are:
- Passionate about wine
- Emotionally intelligent
- Skilled communicator
- Interested in personal growth and open to constructive feedback.
- Can make plans, but knows how to adapt them when the situation calls for it.
- Not afraid to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is called for to make the moment - or the month - successful.
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work for long stretches on your feet.

Why Work With Us:
In addition to being a part of a company where hospitality, positivity, and culture are our super powers, we offer a wide range of benefits for our employees.
