About this position
Electronic Technicians help maintain the complex technology behind postal operations. In this role, they may test, diagnose, calibrate, maintain and repair electronic, electromechanical and computer-controlled equipment. The work can include tracing malfunctions, completing preventive maintenance, documenting repairs and analyzing equipment failures to improve reliability.Key responsibilities
- Perform complex testing and diagnosis of electronically operated equipment and systems.
- Complete preventive maintenance, alignment, calibration and authorized overhaul work.
- Trace electronic, electromechanical, computer-controlled or software-related malfunctions.
- Repair or correct equipment problems to support reliable system performance.
- Inspect equipment and assess the quality of maintenance or service received.
- Analyze equipment failures and recommend maintenance or servicing improvements.
- Document testing, repairs, calibrations and equipment conditions.
- Follow electrical, electronic and workplace-safety procedures.
Required qualifications
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required; relevant vocational or technical training in electronics is preferred.
- Prior hands-on experience testing, repairing or calibrating electronic or computer-controlled equipment is preferred; relevant certifications or equivalent training may also be considered.
- Applicants must successfully complete any required pre-employment assessment and background check. A valid driver's license may be required depending on the vacancy.
- Ability to lift and carry tools, parts or equipment weighing up to 70 pounds; ability to stand, bend, kneel and work around active machinery and diagnostic equipment; and willingness to follow all electrical, electronic and workplace safety procedures, including use of required personal protective equipment.

Work environment and physical requirements

Compensation and benefits
USD 78237.00–93502.00 per year.
