About this position
Laborer Custodial employees help maintain postal buildings, equipment and surrounding grounds. Daily work may include cleaning floors and work areas, operating powered cleaning equipment, caring for outdoor spaces, removing snow or ice, moving supplies and furniture, loading or unloading materials and assisting with minor building or equipment repairs.Key responsibilities
- Clean floors, work areas, fixtures and other assigned parts of the facility.
- Operate approved floor-cleaning and other powered custodial equipment.
- Care for sidewalks, driveways, lawns, shrubs and surrounding grounds.
- Remove snow, ice, debris or other materials when assigned.
- Move furniture, supplies and equipment.
- Load, unload, unpack or assemble supplies and fixtures when needed.
- Perform or assist with minor building and equipment repairs.
- Follow cleaning-product, equipment and workplace-safety procedures.
Required qualifications
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- No prior work experience is required; new employees receive comprehensive on-the-job training.
- Applicants must successfully complete any required pre-employment assessment and background check. A driver's license is not required for this position unless otherwise noted in the vacancy.
- Ability to lift, carry and move supplies or equipment weighing up to 70 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation; ability to stand, walk, bend and work outdoors in varying weather; and willingness to follow all cleaning-product, equipment and workplace safety procedures.

Work environment and physical requirements

Compensation and benefits
USD 34160.00–54122.00 per year.
