Job DescriptionJob DescriptionContemporaries, a government contracting firm, is supporting the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in hiring an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to support Otolaryngology/ENT clinical and research activities.
The NP/PA will work as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team supporting ENT consult services, patient care, clinical research protocols, surgical coordination, airway response, and tracheostomy care. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical experience as an NP or PA, experience working in a clinical research environment, and an interest or background in otolaryngology, head and neck disorders, or a related specialty.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the ENT consult service, including patient triage, inpatient and outpatient evaluations, follow-up care, and review of test results under appropriate physician supervision.
- Coordinate surgical scheduling and provide operating room support as needed.
- Participate in airway emergency/DART response and assist Otolaryngology staff during emergency calls.
- Assist with on-call coordination, patient sign-out, and continuity of care.
- Provide comprehensive tracheostomy care, including assessments, rounding, wound care, trach changes, suture removal, downsizing, decannulation, and patient/nursing education.
- Support Audiology services, including cerumen removal and participation in applicable clinical research protocols.
- Provide clinical support for research protocols, including participant visits, follow-up evaluations, protocol procedures, and MRI research activities.
- Support clinical research activities through eligibility assessment, protocol adherence, documentation, and adverse event/toxicity assessment.
- Coordinate procurement of clinical and research supplies.
- Participate in educational programs, medical student scheduling, administrative activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation using electronic health records and applicable clinical research systems.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) eligible to meet applicable credentialing and privileging requirements.
- Current, unrestricted professional license.
- Current national certification appropriate to the profession and specialty/population.
- Demonstrated clinical practice experience as an NP or PA.
- Experience supporting clinical research, clinical trials, research protocols, or comparable research operations.
- Knowledge of clinical research practices, including protocol adherence, eligibility assessment, clinical documentation, and adverse event/toxicity assessment.
- Experience using electronic health records and/or clinical research systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, nurses, research personnel, and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
