About this position

Assistant Manager

Corte Oven & Bar | Philadelphia, PA

Corte is seeking an Assistant Manager to join our team at our newly opened restaurant in Philadelphia's East Market neighborhood.

Centered around an open kitchen and wood-fired oven, Corte is a lively, welcoming neighborhood restaurant offering ingredient-driven food, an engaging wine and cocktail program, and warm, attentive hospitality.

We're looking for someone who loves restaurants, enjoys taking care of people, and takes pride in creating a great experience for both guests and colleagues. The ideal candidate is a natural leader who is equally comfortable guiding a busy service, developing relationships with regulars, and helping a young restaurant find its rhythm.

An interest in wine is especially important to us. We're building an evolving wine program and would love to find someone who is excited about learning, tasting, working with producers and distributors, and potentially taking a leading role in shaping the program over time.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily front-of-house operations and lead service alongside the management team.

  • Help train, coach, and develop a knowledgeable, confident, and welcoming staff.

  • Build relationships with guests and foster a strong sense of neighborhood hospitality.

  • Maintain high standards of service, organization, and dining room presentation.

  • Collaborate closely with the kitchen and bar teams.

  • Assist with scheduling, administrative tasks, and other operational responsibilities.

  • Participate in wine tastings, staff education, and beverage program development, with the opportunity to assume greater responsibility for the wine program.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a full-service restaurant, ideally with some supervisory or management responsibility.

  • A genuine enthusiasm for hospitality, food, and wine.

  • Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to lead by example.

  • An organized approach to service and problem-solving.

  • An interest in learning and growing professionally.

  • Wine knowledge is valued, but curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn are equally important.

What We Offer

An opportunity to be part of a restaurant in its earliest stages, working closely with an experienced ownership team that values genuine hospitality, professional development, and a collaborative workplace.

For the right person, there is a meaningful opportunity to help develop and eventually take ownership of Corte's wine program, including wine selection, distributor relationships, staff education, and the continued evolution of our list.

We're interested in people who want to contribute, take initiative, and grow with the restaurant.

To Apply: Please submit your résumé and a brief introduction telling us about your restaurant experience and interest in the position.
