LEAD Staffing
Job Title: Journeyman Electrician
Position Type: Contract
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
Pay: $40-$50/hr.
Summary:
LEAD Staffing is currently looking for Journeyman Electricians to support the installation of new underground and above-ground electrical systems. In this role, you will perform conduit installation, cable pulling, terminations, equipment installation, and electrical testing in accordance with NEC requirements, local codes, and project specifications. This project is scheduled to go through April 2027 and positions are available immediately.
Responsibilities:
- Review electrical drawings, construction plans, and project specifications.
- Verify utility locations and follow required excavation safety procedures.
- Inspect trenching for proper depth, width, and site requirements.
- Install PVC, HDPE, and rigid metal conduit (RMC).
- Install conduit bends, sweeps, supports, spacers, and seals.
- Pull and terminate feeder and branch circuit conductors.
- Verify wire sizing, insulation types, labeling, grounding, and bonding.
- Install and position pull boxes, vaults, junction boxes, and enclosures.
- Install warning tape and tracer wires.
- Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and megger testing.
- Coordinate inspections and troubleshoot electrical deficiencies.
- Follow applicable electrical codes, safety procedures, and project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Electrician experience.
- Experience with underground electrical installations preferred.
- Knowledge of NEC requirements, conduit systems, cable pulling, and electrical terminations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and plans.
- English-speaking ability required; bilingual candidates welcome.
- Ability to provide basic electrical and hand tools.
- Iowa Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
- Candidates without an Iowa Journeyman license must be willing to complete the Iowa licensing process and obtain at least the UP classification before starting work.
Job-Site Requirements
- PPE: Workers must provide their own hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, and work boots.
- Tools: Basic electrical tools and hand tools required.
